SGM Billy Waugh

Here are comments by Annie:

An author always strives to make her books more meaningful, more exciting —and ultimately to break new ground. I believe I have done that with my new book coming in May 2019: SURPRISE, KILL, VANISH: The Secret History of CIA Paramilitary Armies, Operators and Assassins.

In fact, when I shared the book’s title with the CIA’s former general counsel, John Rizzo (whom I interviewed for the book), he said: “Well, Annie…[long pause]. No one’s ever tried to write that book before.” I believe this book will make you reexamine what you think you know about the CIA and those who serve.

My main protagonist, BILLY WAUGH, is one of the most extraordinary people I have ever spent time with and interviewed. A highly decorated U.S. Army Green Beret, he is also one of the longest-serving CIA operators in its history. His will to survive has been nothing short of remarkable; he has achieved stunning victories in secret places where a less determined operator would have almost certainly been captured, compromised, or killed. His extraordinary story makes up the spine of this book.

Thank you kindly,
